Overview:
This project involved designing a sophisticated quoting system for an insurance brokerage, allowing clients and internal teams to quickly generate accurate and tailored insurance quotes. The system was designed to streamline the quoting process, improve efficiency, and ensure accurate pricing across a range of insurance parrtners. It needed to integrate with multiple data sources, lesson the time of quoting calls and provide a seamless user experience for both brokers and the possibility of partners in the future.
My Role:
As the UI/UX Designer and Business Analyst, I led the design of the user interface and experience, ensuring that the quoting system was intuitive, responsive, and easy to use. I worked closely with developers, the EXCO team and relevant stakeholders to understand the various integration requirements, quoting process and system requirements. My focus was on creating a system that allowed brokers to generate quotes quickly, customize policies, and offer accurate pricing based on user input.
Key Features:
Dynamic Quote Generation:
The system allows brokers to generate quotes in real-time by inputting client information (e.g., coverage types, policy details, demographics). The quote is calculated dynamically based on a variety of factors, such as risk assessments, location, and insurance needs. These quotes are pulled from several insurance partners and advisors can change excess amounts and add custom quotes.Automated Pricing Calculations:
Integrated pricing algorithms calculate the premium based on real-time data, applying business rules and discounts in accordance to insurance partners. This helps ensure the accuracy of the quotes, while saving time for both brokers and clients.Multi-Product Quote Support:
The system can generate quotes for multiple types of insurance products, including vehicle, home contents, building, and all risk. Each product has customizable options and premium structures based on specific criteria.Client Personalization:
The system saves client details, allowing brokers to generate and amend quotes for existing clients by quickly retrieving their information. It also enables the creation of quotes for new clients by capturing essential data through easy-to-follow minimal information based screens.Instant Quote Comparison:
Brokers can compare quotes for different policies side by side, showing coverage details, premiums, deductibles, and additional options, making it easier for clients to make informed decisions.Integration with CRM & Data Sources:
The quoting system integrates with the brokerage’s CRM system to pull existing client data and with external databases to pull the latest risk and pricing data, ensuring real-time accuracy in quotes.Responsive & Intuitive UI:
The design is optimized for ease of use, with clear, guided steps for both novice users and experienced brokers. The interface is responsive, ensuring it works seamlessly across devices.

Complexity of Insurance Pricing Models:
Insurance pricing models can be complex, with numerous variables affecting the cost of a policy. I worked closely with the product and data teams to ensure the system could handle these complexities, while keeping the user interface simple and intuitive.User-Centric Design for Brokers:
Creating a design that worked for brokers, who needed a powerful tool with many features, required careful attention to the user journey. I created multiple user flows and conducted user testing to balance the needs effectively.
